American Association of Physics Teachers Regional Spring Meeting
The National High Magnetic Field Laboratory and the Florida State University Physics Department hosted the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) regional spring meeting in Tallahassee on Friday and Saturday, April 16-17. The AAPT is a professional membership association of scientists dedicated to enhancing the understanding and appreciation of physics through teaching.
Friday evening's program included dinner and a show in the Physics Department's digital planetarium. Saturday morning's program took place at the Magnet Lab and included a tour of the lab as well as activities hosted by the lab's Center for Integrating Research and Learning (CIRL).
On Saturday afternoon, the meeting moved to FSU's main campus and the Physics Department. The program included tours of the John D. Fox Superconductor Accelerator Laboratory and the university's Off-Grid Zero Emission Building. The afternoon also included activities at the university's SCALE-UP studio science classroom.
AAPT was established in 1930 with the fundamental goal of ensuring the "dissemination of knowledge of physics, particularly by way of teaching." Today that vision is supported by more than 11,000 members in 30 countries around the world.
