Doing Science Together

With spectrum glasses for the whole family,
atomic spectra come alive.

The Tallahassee Mall Barnes and Noble transforms into a science haven the third Thursday of each month when educators from the Mag Lab’s Center for Integrating Research & Learning roll in their carts packed with fun science doodads. Doing Science Together is an opportunity for kids and their grown-ups to experience science in unexpected (and classroom-free) ways. Stop by each month at 6:30 p.m. to check it out; most programs last about an hour.

What: Doing Science Together

Doing Science Together features hand-on activities that help participants:

• Make connections between science and their world
• Ask and answer questions
• Think scientifically
• Gain a sense of adventure and curiosity
• Learn simple, inventive science activities that can be done at home with basic materials

Schedule your own Doing Science Together
Doing Science Together can be tailored to meet any group’s needs. Activities may feature listening walks, 10-minute field trips or picture books to expand science vocabulary and sense of wonder about the world. Workshops may be scheduled after school, evenings or Saturdays, and can take place here at the Mag Lab or at your school, library, bookstore or other facilty.
